Over many years I have always used the Diamond RH77CA (BNC equivalent) antenna for anything other than 700-800MHz. It performs awesome on VHF and pretty well on UHF. I used it mostly for VHF commercial aircraft and UHF MilAir.

My most recent Diamond antenna is the SRH770S. Very long and awkward but solid performer. I have two of the RH77CA and one each of the other versions. They all sweep the same and were best at 150 MHz and 450 MHz.
